Those are camellias, a very close (if not true first place) contender for my favorite plant ever. Not only is it my middle name sake (Camille, holla!) but it is also one of the most widely used plants in the world. I am sure you have used it yourself many times. Recognize it? Its the Tea Plant! The leaves (and occasional bud) of species Camellia sinensis are used to make tea. White tea, green tea, oolong, pu-erh tea and black tea are all harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation.
