That was fast...

As of yesterday evening, I am officially back to Antananarivo, the capitol and my home for the next week before I get to be OFFICIALLY back to the states. The last 2 weeks in the field went great! We hiked to the various villages within the community where I work, for a grand total of at least 60 miles, with a good portion of that being either straight uphill or downhill. My legs are powerful now. We saw new lemurs that I hadn't seen before, collected plants that I have never seen before, spoke a language I am starting to get a handle on, and ate a lot of chicken and rice. We had to come back a few days early, because like most people in the world, our plans were messed up by that volcano in Iceland. Really! I will tell that story in a bit.
For the most part, I do prefer the rural community to this capitol city but right now I am staying in a REALLY nice hotel and in a really big room, so I can't complain! But I will be very happy to get back to St. Louis and have a sandwich, a Bud Light lime, and watch the Cardinals...
