While I was gone...

So while I was galavanting around the wilds of Madagascar, Joe was not at home twiddling his thumbs waiting for me to call. I always thought the most dangerous part about where we live is the proximity to a Home Depot (you can walk there in 2 minutes) because Home Depot + carpenter husband = high credit card bills. But it actually works out to be Home Depot + DIY blog obsessed wife = lots of painting (and lots of charging at HD). That's right, more paint stories!

Right before I left we were browsing Home Depot, (yeah, it might have been a Date Night) when Joe pointed out some bluish-grey cabinets in the model kitchen section of the store. We both really liked them so we rushed over to the paint section to attempt to match the color to a Behr paint chip. We had NO LUCK. The kitchen design guy took a special interest in our blatant attempt to rip off the cabinets, that he took the cabinet door off the hinges and took it over to the paint color match machine. The resulting color looked like cement grey, but we went with it. When I came home from Madagascar I was presented with...

I love them! Joe also added molding to the top and bottom of the upper cabinets to make them more finished. Now, we need to put in a tile backsplash, repaint the walls (something other than yellow), put in butcher block counters, knock down the wall and put in an island/breakfast bar and get new floors... in time...
