Kuhlette's Collectibles

This weekend kicks off the first of 4 showers being thrown in Kuhlette's honor. How lucky are we!? I am so excited about seeing my family, opening presents, crying over tiny cute clothing, and being a very happy mama in general. This upcoming weekend will bring lots of items to sort through, clean and organize into baby girl's room and I know I will be overwhelmed with decisions to make. (How do shoes get organized, will she be wearing 3 month clothing by her 2nd week of life... all those what ifs and will she questions). But for me, the biggest pack-rat you have ever met, a real trouble spot will be what to do with the ephemera that showers generate. Because even though ephemera means printed and written items that are not to be preserved or saved, I save it. I save it all.
Take for instance our wedding. In the process of planning and celebrating our wedding I held on to a lot of stuff. When it came to move from House #1 to Dream House, I had to decide what to do with all this stuff. Luckily, I was gifted a beautiful box (which contained a beautiful glass plate) and I started putting everything into that box. Here is our wedding memories box today:

This method of organizing has been so helpful! Whenever I find another piece of wedding memorabilia, I just throw it in the box for safe keeping.
Over the weekend I found the perfect box for Kuhlette's collectibles. Her ultrasound pictures, the Countdown to Kuhlette calendar, the well wishing cards and pictures from the shower will all find a home in this box. And one day, Kuhlette will look through the box and feel the love!
